One of the great moments in a hungry house is when you find meat in your freezer you’d forgotten. It’s like winning a prize or major award! When that meat is a US Wellness pasture raised ham, you have something special!
Our friend and special contributor Aimee Wilson from OneFullPlate.com has a delicious paleo ham recipe to share. It’s simple and easy to put this flavorful meal together and perfect for any time of year. Enjoy!

US Wellness Shopping List: 2.5 lb boneless Ham

INGREDIENTS:

For the rub:

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • zest of 1/2 an orange
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 F and place the ham in a roasting; cut some paper thin slices in the ham (I did about 10).
  2. Combine the rub mixture in a bowl and then rub all over the ham. Make sure that some of the rub drop between the slices; Cover the ham with foil then place in the oven for 1-1.15 hrs-ish.
  3. When the ham is 30 min out from cooking, put a small saute pan over medium heat and whisk in all the glaze ingredients; Let reduce and keep stirring for 25 min, stirring every couple minutes to keep from sticking.
  4. When the ham is done cooking, remove the foil and drizzle about half the glaze on top of the entire ham.
  5. Once lathered, increase oven heat to 400 F and then put ham back in the oven for another 30 more min. If the ham looks a little dry still, feel free to add a few more tbsp of maple syrup on top.
  6. After the ham has visually browned on the outside, take out of the oven then drizzle the rest of the glaze on top.
  7. Serve!
