Scott, how often should I use cheat meals and what should they consist of if I want to lose body fat as quickly as possible. I feel like my metabolism is very sluggish lately even though I am exercising 5 times per week and consuming no refined foods. ~ Kim, Seattle

Kim, I advise clients starting an aggressive fat loss plan such as the 21 Day Fat Cell Cleanse Nutrition, to start with three weeks of pristine eating so the body transitions to using more stored fat as fuel. Reward meal strategies are a vital strategy for maintaining a low level of body fat lover the long term. Following the first three weeks the right frequency for a reward meal is every 7 to 14 days pending a number of individual factors that I explain below.

Reward meals will accelerate body fat loss and drive compliance when implemented after the first phase of the 21 Day Fat Cell Cleanse Nutrition Plan which you can get for free by emailing Scott@infinityfitness.com. The specific strategies built into the 21 Day Fat Cell Cleanse Nutrition Plan force the body to transition to using more stored fat as fuel through multiple proven pathways that should not be interrupted.

Reward Meal Food Choices to Drive Fat Burning

Organic foods are ideal for reward meals including grass fed steak, organically raised lamb, baked chicken wings and more. Go for carb sources that do not include trans fats or preservatives. Eating potatoes, rice and fruits are far better than going for bread for obvious reasons. Limit the sugar intake to one item so that the system is not overwhelmed while limiting the total glycogen replenishment. The body can respond very well to carbohydrates combined with organic dietary fats and proteins especially following an intense exercise session.

Reward meals work very well for social settings and support much better rates of compliance with the overall nutrition plan approach, based on my experience helping clients earn a low body fat level with excellent quality of life during the last 21 years.

Timing is Everything

Following the first 21 Day Fat Cell Cleanse nutrition plan a reward meal can work very well every 7 to 14 days pending many individual factors including gender, stress levels, food allergies, activity levels, sleep patterns, age, genetics and more. Reward meals can also be done without a significant amount of carbohydrate for those who do not tolerate carbs well.

Weight Training Changes the Game

Cluster 6 Pause training is an excellent protocol to use before a reward meal to peak metabolism before reward meals. Weight training with short rest periods and high levels of effort create excellent metabolic and hormonal conditions for consuming large amounts of food as well as carbohydrates from the right sources. My definition of intense training varies significantly from the average person. The emphasis is on quality for sessions less than forty five minutes instead of quantity. Those seeking to outrun a bad diet with too much exercise often find themselves dealing with overtraining which makes matters much worse.
