These classic meatballs have a sneaky pizza taste thanks to Italian seasonings and onion powder. To keep them extra juicy and flavorful, they’re topped with a homemade spicy marinara sauce and garnished with fresh basil.
The marinara sauce is super easy to make. Simply mix organic tomato sauce with crushed red pepper, the same Italian seasoning you use for the meatballs, and top with more basil! If you want your sauce a little spicier, add Paleo-friendly sriracha, chili powder or more crushed red pepper.
This recipe works well with 75% or 85% lean ground beef. To make a fattier, Keto version of this recipe, use 55% lean beef, ground and mix with just the egg white instead of a whole egg so they don’t get too greasy when cooked.
Serve your meatballs over spaghetti squash or zucchini noodles, over coconut flour bread with melted cashew cheese for a quick “pizza,” or as a delicious party appetizer!
