Scott, should we eat the same number of calories each day when we want to lose body fat? After a few weeks I think a low calorie intake has stalled out fat burning in the past. What is your approach? Ron and Tammy
The caloric intake must shift upward at least one time per week to drive excellent rates of fat burning. Dr. Serrano and I use a high calorie day approach featuring a larger breakfast with high quality food sources at least once per week with clients who want to lose body fat quickly. Being in a caloric deficit the entire week can make the metabolism become very sluggish. Making strategic changes to the caloric intake, macronutrient percentages and fasted period lengths each week is extremely important to drive great rates of fat burning ongoing.
A High Calorie Day Breakfast once per week following exercise is a powerful Rapid Fat Burning Tactic built into the 21 Day Fat Cell Cleanse Nutrition System.
The High Calorie Day Breakfast
Focusing a higher percentage of the food intake earlier in the day, following exercise, in general is very good for fat burning and driving high levels of daily energy. Focus on free range eggs cooked in grass fed butter, organic bacon/sausage and avocado and eat until your satisfied. It makes sense to consume a smaller dinner than usual with this strategy.
Macronutrient Cycling Fat Burning Opportunities
Eating the same foods, at similar times with roughly the same ratios of dietary fat, protein and carbohydrate on a daily basis is a recipe for staleness. Dietary Fat Loading during the High Calorie Breakfast creates an excellent fat burning situation for several days. The large influx of dietary fat from organic sources boosts natural fat burning enzyme production through the roof. These fat burning enzyme levels stay elevated for several days and have the ability to burn more stored fat when the dietary fat intake returns to normal during the days following the High Calorie Breakfast.
Exercise and Meal Schedule
It is ideal to complete a weight training session an hour or two before the high calorie day breakfast to create an ideal fat burning environment. The weight training session should be highly dense with short rest periods to increase fat burning hormones while depleting muscle glycogen (stored carbohydrate). Assuming you finish an exercise session at 9 am you should eat breakfast between 10 and 11 am. You can move the exercise session later in the day and use a high calorie late lunch for example.
