Grass-Fed Burger Salad Recipe

Grass-fed Burger Salad
This grass-fed burger salad recipe is super simple but it’s also really fun and delicious. This is a nifty way to get your grass-fed beef and greens in one dish. If you use the ground beef instead of the patties, Jessi recommends adding a 1/4 lb of ground pork to the burger for a flavor kick.

Burger

  1. 1lb grass-fed ground beef
  2. ¼ lb pork sausage
  3. ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  4. ¼ cup onion, finely diced
  5. 1 tsp chili powder
  6. ½ tsp dried oregano
  7. 1 tsp black pepper
  8. 1 tsp sea salt

Salad

  1. 1 cup kale, shredded
  2. 2 cups lettuce, chopped (whatever type you prefer)
  3. ¼ cup onion, sliced
  4. ½ cup carrots, sliced
  5. ½ cup red cabbage, shredded
  6. ¼ cup Farmhouse Culture Smoked Jalapeno Kraut
  7. 1 cup roasted sweet potato (recipe here)

Dressing

  1. 4 Tbsp Dijon
  2. 1 Tbsp hot sauce (optional)

Instructions For Grass-fed Burger Salad

  1. Preheat a grill to 450. Combine all the burger ingredients in a bowl and thoroughly mix.
  2. Divide the batter in to 4 large patties. Place on the grill and cook about three minutes per a side and then use a meat thermometer to check if they are cooked to your personal preference
  3. Combine all of the salad ingredients in a bowl and toss together.
  4. Divide among four large bowls or plates. Pour one tablespoon of Dijon and one teaspoon of hot sauce on the salad and top with the grilled burger.

Notes

  1. If you don’t have a grill I would recommend a cast iron skillet to cook the burger. You will need to increase cooking time to about five minutes a side and then temp it
