Scott, I would really like to have a great six pack this summer and my wife wants better overall definition. While we have both been lean before we never had any abdominal definition. Recently we have not done a good job with our food choices or exercise so we gained 20 and 10 pounds of fat respectively. What do you recommend? ~ Tyler and Anne
Earning a great core muscle definition is a matter of training the abdominal muscles correctly and earning a low body fat percentage. The Beach Core Conditioning training does a great job of stimulating core muscles as nature intended in a functional manner while utilizing short rest periods between sets to spike fat burning hormones. While a sandy beach in the warm sun is ideal, these sessions can be done anywhere with some medicine balls that are easy to find online or in a sporting goods store.

Strive for Five Total Sessions Each Week
Three weight training sessions geared specifically to boosting fat burning hormones and two functional core sessions per week make up the ideal training frequency for a majority of clients based on over 20 years of experience supporting excellent transformations. Each well planned session has a huge impact on fat burning hormones and metabolism for up to 48 hours following each session. The greater the effort put into recovery and proper nutrition strategies create a more powerful fat burning effect for each session. Five well executed sessions per week puts clients into a heightened state of fat burning throughout the seven day week.
Holding the medicine ball out in front of the body while performing a squat requires the core muscles to activate in an intense manner which is functional in nature. Even a one pound medicine ball can add significant challenge for clients trying this exercise for the first time. A key to success is gradual increases in weight load while focusing on proper form, speed of repetitions and sticking with short rest periods between sets.
Cardio and Core Training at the Same Time
The short rest periods between sets of various core conditioning movements makes the entire training session very challenging from an aerobic stand point. Short rest periods combined with challenging exercises are excellent for elevating fat burning hormones in addition to spiking metabolism. Clients enjoy performing their interval sprint and core conditioning work at the same time for elevated time efficiency. A quality over quantity of exercise approach is always best for those who have many responsibilities. The duration of each set also impacts the cardiovascular challenges especially as core movements become more challenging.
Stop Doing Crunches and Other Ground Based Exercises
Traditional “abdominal” exercises such as sit ups and crunches are not effective for six pack development. In most cases these movements cause the hip flexors to be very tight and create conditions that lead to lower back pain. A majority of core training should be done in standing positions and involve rotations as nature intended.
The core muscles were designed to work together in a functional manner. As a result these muscles respond best to functional exercises such as holding medicine balls in specific positions and challenging the core to balance the body in a number of scenarios. Consider that sprinting movements can cause many people to have sore core muscles for days following. This is due to the hard work the core muscles take on during the act of sprinting while many would assume the legs do most of the work.
Wild caught seafood is a great choice for any meal within the 21 Day Fat Cell Cleanse Nutrition Plan. Wild caught fish and seafood have a superior dietary fat content for consumption to support ideal body composition and quality of life.
A large part of showing off a great core definition is a low body fat percentage which must be earned with the right nutrition approach. I would highly suggest the 21 Day Fat Cell Cleanse nutrition plan followed by the Day 22 Carb Load repeated up to four times for 88 total days to peak metabolic and hormonal momentum. Each person stores fat differently based on genetic factors and the density of fat storage receptors in certain areas. Great core muscle development has helped many clients show off a great six pack with 12% body fat using a multi-site caliper test.
