IN THE KITCHEN WITH MORGAN PEACEMAN
Tell us about yourself:
My name is Morgan and I am the founder and face of Nomaste Hungry. After a trip to Europe in 2018, my love for cuisine was ignited and I was inspired to create my food blog, Nomaste Hungry. I use this space to share recipes I’ve created and meal planning advice for health-conscious families looking for easy to prepare, nutritious meals. Food has always been something that brings happiness to my heart.
How did you get involved in cooking?
My family loved cooking and entertaining, especially with family and friends. I’ve been in the kitchen ever since I was a little girl. My mother figures in my life always encouraged me to explore and cook and bake, and I’ve always found that to be the reason why I’ve grown to love cooking as much as I do. Cooking for others is cathartic, uniting, and when there’s incredible food at the center of the table, you can’t go wrong!
Describe your cooking style:
My focus when developing recipes and blogging them is to solve the greatest problem of all time: what do I cook for breakfast/lunch/dinner today? I create recipes that are designed to take minimal ingredients, minimal time with maximum flavor and versatility. Easy, comforting, healthy-ish recipes that take the stress out of the kitchen.
How did you learn about grass-fed meats?
When I was diagnosed with H. Pylori back in 2014, I knew I needed to begin taking ownership of my health, and that started with the foods I consumed on a regular basis. I began listening to podcasts, reading blogs, and joining groups on Facebook that were centered around healthier approaches to food. Grass-Fed meats was one of the biggest pieces of conversation, and ever since then, it’s been a large part of my regular shopping.
What is your favorite recipe featuring grass-fed meat?
I can’t say no to a grass-fed skirt steak or a pot roast. There’s something so tender, juicy, and flavorful about a grilled skirt steak or a slow-roasted pot roast. I also love juicy pasture-raised chicken thighs and grass-fed tacos.
You’re stranded on a desert island; luckily, you’re stranded with your top 5 ingredients and one must-have kitchen tool:
My five top ingredients include avocado oil, an endless supply of grass-fed steak, salt, bone broth, and coffee (I always need my coffee). My one must-have kitchen tool would be kitchen shears.
Best cooking secret/tip/piece of advice you’ve learned:
Don’t rush the process. Trust your gut and senses when cooking.
What’s your favorite quote/song for culinary inspiration (if any)?
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
― Virginia Woolf
