Tell us about yourself:

Cheers! I’m Jacqueline! I have a passion for finding healthier ways to do our favorite meals! We are a small family of two, but that never stops us from sitting down for dinner most nights of the week! Nothing brings me more joy, than creating healthy and delicious food for those I love! And what makes me really excited is sharing my ideas with you!

I recently started my blog after losing my mom to Early Onset Dementia, a form of Alzheimer’s Disease. She had been sick for a long time, which was very hard, but the loss was even worse. I was searching for any distraction I could find that gave me a break from being so sad. Many people over the years suggested I should start a blog! I figured it was as good of a time as any. I spent a lot of time during the pandemic teaching myself how to create a blog by reading and watching videos! Putting my recipes into print was the perfect thing to give my mind a break, and A Busy Kitchen was born!

I live in Cleveland, Ohio with my boyfriend Jason. I love embracing the seasons and the foods that go along with them. Summer is my favorite. I love the pool, grilling, and all the fun fresh summer foods. Local Farmers Markets are my favorite!

How did you get into cooking?

For me, cooking was a way to bring family and friends together to entertain. I love to host, so cooking went right along with it. Throughout the years, my cooking has changed and adapted. The older I get, the more complex recipes I am able to handle. But whether it’s in a toaster oven, or an all day simmer in a crockpot, it is always fun for me.

Describe your cooking style:

I would say I lean on the healthier side of cooking, however it is not mandatory! I like to clean as I go, and I like my dishes to be eye appealing and presentable!

How did you learn about grass-fed meats?

I learned a lot about grass-fed meats from social media, along with doing some of my own research. I am grateful for the influencers who led me down the path to grass-fed meats, and am so grateful to be able to pay it forward.

You’re stranded on a desert island, luckily, you’re stranded with your top 5 ingredients and one must-have kitchen tool:

Top five ingredients:
1. Rice
2. Bottled Water
3. Canned Chicken
4. Canned veggies
5. Sweet Chili Sauce
AND a pot for boiling

**Chicken, rice and vegetable bowls are my favorite. A pot to boil the rice then heat up everything else in! Sweet Chili is my favorite sauce, so that would be my topper! Keeping it fancy while stranded! In a perfect world they will be tab open cans, but if not, I’ll have to crack them open somehow!

Best cooking secret/tip/piece of advice you’ve learned:

If it doesn’t taste right, add salt, pepper or sugar. Usually one of those can fix it!

What is your favorite quote/song for culinary inspo?

“Food is medicine.” I truly believe what we consume has a huge result on our well-being!
