There are those in society that struggle to overcome addictions, environmental challenges, destructive lifestyles and poor choices. Many of these people become hopeless, alone, and lost. The consequences they face can become a repeating theme. Unfortunately, this is the side of society that is often ignored, imprisoned, or homeless.
The Other Side Academy
The Other Side Academy is an opportunity for those seeking long term behavioral change. This is not a quick fix, but a long-term strategy for learning or re-learning “right living” (personal and social responsibility, and ethics). It’s a training school where students learn pro-social, vocational and life skills allowing them to positively impact themselves and others. The Academy employs a Therapeutic Community Model that teaches participants the importance of “self-help” and “mutual self-help”. When “A” helps “B”, “A” gets better!
One of the main components of the program is learning through experience. Students work at one of the training schools, like The Other Side Movers, or The Other Side Thrift Boutique. These “real world” living and working situations teach responsibility, self esteem, trust, communication skills, and productivity.
US Wellness shares the enthusiasm generated by this commitment to changing lives for the better. We celebrate the many successes this program has had in the past and look forward to many more in the future.
US Wellness Meats provides food for special community meals. In 2021, US Wellness was pleased to donate healthy proteins to The Other Side Academy kitchen team for them to prepare delicious Easter meals.
We’d encourage you to support efforts like this in your communities. Turning lives around is rewarding not just for the individuals involved but for the entire community.
